shopping refunds

use your ai agent to check a price-drop refund.

if something you recently bought becomes cheaper, your ai agent can check whether the seller offers a price adjustment and help prepare a request. the job starts with the receipt and the current offer for exactly the same item.

compare the same product and seller.

match the model, size, colour, condition and included accessories. check who sells the item, whether it is in stock, and whether the lower price requires a membership, coupon or bundle you do not have. include shipping and other charges in the comparison.

save the lower offer’s link and the date checked. a similar item or an unavailable deal may not qualify. the FTC’s online-shopping guidance recommends checking the seller’s price-adjustment policy and the records it requires. your ai should read that seller’s terms before proposing a claim.

find the adjustment window and exclusions.

a store may cover only its own price changes, exclude particular promotions or offer a different process for an unshipped order. ask your ai to identify the actual rule that applies to your order, including the purchase date and any deadline.

calculate the potential benefit after any return shipping, restocking charge or lost discount. returning and buying again is a different decision from asking for an adjustment. do not cancel an order or start a return until the alternative is workable and you approve.

copy this prompt.

ask me for confirmation/receipt, current comparable price and cancellation/adjustment terms. check recent purchases and travel bookings for lower prices on the same item or itinerary. check whether the provider allows an adjustment or cheaper rebooking, and calculate the benefit after fees. prepare any request before changing the booking. if i want ongoing checks, set the frequency and end date with me. verify identical specifications and all taxes/fees. for travel, secure the acceptable replacement before releasing the original. for retail, check price-adjustment exclusions and deadline. for a travel credit, record the named traveler, usable routes or fares, expiration, change fees and whether i can realistically use it. keep cash refunds, travel credits and potential rebooking differences separate; an alert or submitted request is not a completed saving.

keep the outcome in the right category.

ask for the eligible difference with the order reference and a source for the lower price. if support offers store or promotional credit, check restrictions and expiry before deciding whether it is useful. record it as credit rather than money returned to your payment method.

the public example below is a retail promotional credit. the library prompt also covers travel, where fare rules and usable flight credits need their own checks. do not assume a retail adjustment policy applies to flights or hotels.

if you want continued price checks, agree the interval and end date with your ai instead of assuming it will monitor a purchase in the background. for an already denied request, see refund appeals.
