repair & replacement
check the warranty with your ai agent before replacing it.
before paying to replace a broken product, give your ai agent its receipt, exact model and a clear description of the fault. it can help find the right warranty and prepare a claim with the evidence you already have.
match the product to its written terms.
search the manufacturer’s official website using the model and purchase date. another model’s coverage, a current sales page or a general brand promise may not describe your product’s warranty. include the seller and whether the item was new, refurbished or bought from someone else.
the FTC’s warranty guidance is a useful checklist for reading coverage and the claim process. ask your ai to locate the actual terms, identify the relevant section and explain any uncertainty. an extended service contract should be checked separately from a manufacturer’s warranty.
work out what a remedy would really cost.
check whether the proposed remedy is a repair, replacement, refund or a discount toward a new purchase. find out who pays shipping, inspection or labour charges, whether the item must be returned and what happens if the fault is not covered.
put those costs beside a suitable replacement price. a paid repair may still be worthwhile, but a discount on an expensive new item is not the same thing as a free replacement. keep the practical result clear before accepting anything.
a job for your ai agent
copy this prompt.
use my receipt, purchase date, brand, exact model or serial number and description of the fault to find the manufacturer’s actual warranty and any relevant recall. check coverage, exclusions, deadlines and whether repair, replacement or refund is offered. include shipping, inspection charges and the cost of any proposed replacement. organize my photos and troubleshooting already completed, then prepare a truthful claim through the official channel. if coverage has expired, check whether a goodwill repair or replacement discount is available. do not describe a discount as a refund. compare the approved remedy with buying a suitable replacement and ask before accepting an offer that costs money.
send the evidence, then review the offer.
collect the receipt, fault photos and a brief record of troubleshooting already completed. describe normal use and what actually failed. keep the serial number private except where the manufacturer’s official process needs it. do not invent a purchase date or claim a fault the item does not have.
save the case number and written decision. if an agent can contact support, approve the proposed message first and review any offer that costs money. if coverage is unclear or expired, a truthful goodwill request is an option to ask about, rather than a promised entitlement.
for an item that arrived unusable, the retailer’s return process may be the first route to check. our post on damaged grocery deliveries shows how to keep a request specific to the affected purchase.
